It's time to bid Covid-19 farewell
Islamabad: The COVID-19 outbreak in the Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district has been waning with each passing day, and given data on the number of patients who have tested positive for the virus and the number of deaths caused by the virus in the region, it appears that the time to say goodbye to the deadly infection is rapidly approaching.
Only 73 patients from the ICT and Rawalpindi districts have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last ten days, and no deaths have been reported in the region owing to COVID-19 in the first ten days of April. The average number of people in the region who test positive for HIV has reduced to roughly seven per day.
According to Dr. Muhammad Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer ICT, a lovely downward weekly trend has reached 0.46 percent weekly positive in Islamabad. From the 24th through the 30th of January 2022, weekly positivity reached 16.45 percent. In the federal capital today, there are seven COVID-19 cases, he said.
In the Rawalpindi district, where 22 people have tested positive for the disease in the previous 10 days, there has been a similar declining trend. In the last ten days, however, 51 patients have been reported from Islamabad.
According to information obtained by 'The News' on Sunday, another nine people from the twin cities have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus to 178,139, with 2,356 people dying as a result of the disease.
In the previous 24 hours, ICT confirmed seven individuals positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 135126 patients, of which 134021 have recovered and 1023 have died. ICT had 82 current instances of coronavirus infection as of Sunday.
Meanwhile, only two additional patients from Rawalpindi area have tested positive, bringing the total number of patients to 43013, with 41655 having previously been cured. The infection has claimed the lives of 1333 people in the district thus far.
